1  Overview

This tutorial explains step by step how to complete your professional business profile, with tips and recommendations for maximum impact to potential visitors.

It is very important for your business that you create professional content for your Business Profile. For the potential client viewing your business profile, it is the first impression they will receive about your business and what you offer.

It can be so much more than just a flyer ad or a directory entry.  It is, in face, a concise resume of your business with branding impact, and you can design it to not only proudly represent your business, but encourage potential clients to contact you.  Indeed, it is a marketing tool.

You should not rush the creation of your profile.  Take as long as you want to prepare your profile;  it will remain open for you to edit until you notify us that it is complete.  During this time your account will remain at Basic Membership level.

Once your profile is complete, contact us and let us know you have finished editing your profile. We will review it and then upgrade your UBC Membership level accordingly, and notify you when done.

Once your membership has been upgraded, your profile will be locked for editing for security reasons.  However, you can edit it as often as you want – simply contact us requesting us to unlock it for editing.

2  Header Image Guide

There is a well known saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words”.  And it appears to be true in the world of marketing at least.

The header image in your profile can be used for many things – as an advert, as a photograph of your business of office, as a flyer, or even a snapshot of you hard copy business card.  It can be anything you can imagine and create.

Many people have simply used an image of some attractive scene which has nothing to do with their business. We encourage you to make use of this image area to place an image that is pertinent to your business; that displays your business brand and what you offer your potential clients.

Take a peak at what some of our members have done to maximize this space – click here to head on over to our Professional Members Directory, and browse.  You will immediately be able to pick up headers that are just scenery and headers that have been professionally made to give maximum impact.

Recommended Image Sizes – header images should not be more than 700px in width. We recommend 300 x 700 pixels for header images.

Free Online Picture Resizer Services:  If you need to resize your images, try one of these online services we found:

3  Profile Image Guide

Profile images can be in jpg or gif format only.

Profile photos cannot be less than 190px in width. We recommend 200 x200 pixels.

The profile image is displayed as follows:

ON YOUR PROFILE PAGE:

Look to the bottom left of this members header image below – you will see his logo “Wisk” in a white circle.  That is his profile image, he used his logo instead of a photo.  When a visitor views your profile that is where your profile image will display.

ON YOUR BUSINESS CARD:

Our system automatically extracts your header image and profile image to create your business card.

The profile image now appears in the center of the header image.
